"Our employees had actually been pushing for a Cycle to Work scheme for years. We were always told it was too much hassle to set up, or that HR didn’t have enough time to roll it out. That all changed once we saw just how easy it was to run and promote the programme through the RG platform. It was so rewarding to finally find the perfect system to make it a success!"

Cycle to Work FAQs
How does the Cycle to Work scheme work?
The Cycle to Work scheme allows your employees to request the purchase of a bike, ebike or cycling equipment. Once approved by your team, they will be issued a Halfords voucher that they can redeem at 800+ stores countrywide. They can then pay off the purchase in interest-free installments made through their salary payments.
How long does it take to get a bike?
This depends on if the scheme is on manual or automatic approval. If automatic, a request for a bike can be approved instantly. The Letter of Collection is then sent to the employee typically a few hours later, within two days.
What is a Letter of Collection?
A Letter of Collection is a document issued by Halford that enables your employee to acquire a bike from one of 800+ retailers.
When is the Letter of Collection dispatched?
If your scheme is set up with automatic approval, the Letter of Collection is dispatched right away. Alternatively, if on manual approval, it is dispatched after an administrator from your organisation approves the application.
How long is the Letter of Collection valid for?
he Letter of Collection is valid for 4 months. If the employee would like to amend the amount, they can do so by cancelling their order during the ‘cooling off period’ (within 14 days) and provided the Letter of Collection has not been spent.
What are 'hire periods', 'hire agreements' and 'salary sacrifice periods'?
Hire period: the period for which this agreement is valid; always 12 months.
Hire agreement: the ‘terms and conditions’ of Cycle to Work that are signed during the application process.
Salary sacrifice period: the period in which Cycle to Work payments are made through each salary payment until the balance is paid off. The period of repayment can be 12, 18 or 24 months.
When will a net salary deduction be applied?
We offer Cycle to Work in the form of a salary sacrifice benefit. However, in the event that your employee is on National Minimum or National Living Wage, you will be able to offer this as a net payroll deduction benefit.
What happens if an employee leaves before their salary sacrifice period is completed?
If an employee leaves before the end of the hire term, the outstanding balance of their Cycle to Work order will be taken from their remaining salary payments.
