What they needed

Chubb Fire & Security believe in Making the World a Safer Place. For over 200 years, the organisation has been at the forefront of life, safety and security solutions, always adapting to meet the evolving needs of its customers. Its enduring purpose of ‘Building Greater Leaders’ is deeply embedded in its culture and guides everything the company does.

As the organisation prepared for its acquisition by US-based APi Group, Chubb’s People team identified an urgent need to review its employee tech. The old platform, Benefits 4 u, was used purely as a benefits and discounts platform. Usage was low, and the narrow scope of the platform meant that employees needed to use multiple different systems for information, content and resources.

Chubb’s People team decided to combine everything into one intuitive employee platform that would reduce the admin burden, boost usage stats and ultimately increase employee engagement.

How we helped

2025_Chubb imagery laptop_UKAlongside Reward Gateway | Edenred, Chubb’s People team set about redeveloping the previous benefits platform into a one-stop shop for everything employee-related. The People team named the new platform People Matters, as its HR Director, Lesley Leach, explained, “...because it’s everything that matters to our people, all in one place”.

In addition to benefits and discounts, People Matters introduced a new Wellbeing Centre, along with Communications and Recognition solutions. The platform launched across two of Chubb’s global businesses – Australia and New Zealand, and UK and Ireland – with exciting plans in the pipeline to take the platform global and onboard Chubb employees right across the world.

People Matters has provided Chubb’s People team with a flexible and self-sufficient platform with scope for instant changes and developments.

What they achieved

The launch of the rebranded People Matters platform boosted a low usage rate up to around 90% active users in 2024. Chubb’s ‘appreciation moments’ soared from less than 500 to over 3,000, while the new Wellbeing Centre hit 1,200 views in 2024. The revamped discounts solution has saved Chubb’s people more than £36,000 so far, on top of around £7,000 worth of savings in Cycle to Work orders... equating to a whopping £46,000 back in the pockets of the people of Chubb, while the organisation has also reduced its National Insurance contributions by £3,000.

The platform has had a transformational impact on Chubb’s employee engagement data. In recent years, the employee satisfaction score for the UK and Ireland business was stagnant at around 58. Today, the same score has improved by over 17% to 68.

People Matters has also helped increase employee retention, with attrition improving from 16.5% to around 11%. By focusing on employee experience and taking a peoplefirst approach, Chubb’s People team has introduced a platform that shows its people how valued and appreciated they truly are.
