Birmingham City Council’s benefits scheme, ‘My Birmingham Rewards’, wins the ‘Distinction in Adding Value’ Award at the 2013 HR Distinction Awards

Birmingham City Council’s benefits scheme, ‘My Birmingham Rewards’, scooped the award for ‘Adding Value in HR’ at the HR Distinction Awards 2013. The awards ceremony was held at the ICC Birmingham on Monday, where around 400 HR industry leaders were invited to come together to see the winners announced.

Up against tough competition, the judges commended the council for making their local community a priority, and rewarded their creativity at introducing discounts at local retailers. The new scheme has heightened the value of the council from the employees’ perspective, as there is now a high level of employee satisfaction across all departments.

Raffaela Goodby, the Head of Engagement, Reward & Recognition at Birmingham City Council was delighted with the award; ‘We are really chuffed to win the ‘Adding Value in HR’ award at the HR Distinction Awards. It does what it says on the tin really! My Birmingham Rewards is adding value to our employees, our foster carer community, the local economy and to our HR service impact in Birmingham. It was nice to receive an award on our home turf too!’

Birmingham City Council plans to build on its success in 2013 by developing new ways to generate excitement about the scheme.
